Lê Trung Thành – Viện trưởng VIBM đã báo cáo kế hoạch công tác năm 2023 và Chiến lược phát triển Viện đến năm 2030, định hướng đến năm 2040 dựa trên 04 quan điểm chính: Thứ nhất, hướng tới Viện nghiên cứu khoa học và công nghệ (KHCN) đầu ngành ở Việt Nam, có uy tín trong khu vực ASEAN và trên thế giới, có đội ngũ chuyên gia giỏi và phòng thí nghiệm hiện đại; Thứ hai, trở thành tổ chức KHCN công lập, ngày càng nâng cao năng lực tự chủ tài chính, tự đảm bảo chi thường xuyên bền vững; Thứ ba, gắn chặt với các hoạt động nghiên cứu ứng dụng KHCN vào phát triển các sản phẩm vật liệu xây dựng (VLXD) mới, tính năng cao, tiết kiệm tài nguyên, năng lượng, nguyên liệu, nhiên liệu; nghiên cứu phục vụ quản lý nhà nước về xây dựng; và triển khai các hoạt động dịch vụ kỹ thuật tư vấn, thí nghiệm, kiểm định, sản xuất và kinh doanh sản phẩm VLXD là chủ yếu, đồng thời tham gia các lĩnh vực khác bao gồm cơ khí xây dựng, hạ tầng kỹ thuật và môi trường xây dựng; Thứ tư, mở rộng hợp tác quốc tế, tiếp cận và ứng dụng nhanh nhất các thành tựu KHCN nhất là cuộc cách mạng công nghiệp lần thứ tư.Dựa trên quan điểm phát triển này, giai đoạn 2021-2030 VIBM hướng tới các mục tiêu:– Chủ trì và tham gia nghiên cứu: các chương trình, đề án, chiến lược, quy hoạch, kế hoạch phát triển về vật liệu xây dựng bao gồm khoáng sản và các nguồn nguyên, nhiên liệu thay thế trong sản xuất VLXD để phục vụ công tác quản lý nhà nước ở các cấp trung ương và địa phương; Áp dụng thành tựu của cuộc cách mạng KHCN lần thứ 4 trong công nghệ sản xuất VLXD, nghiên cứu phát triển VLXD mới, tính năng cao,…; Quy hoạch hệ thống tiêu chuẩn, quy chuẩn kỹ thuật và trực tiếp biên soạn các tiêu chuẩn, quy chuẩn kỹ thuật quan trọng về vật liệu xây dựng.
